Filmmakers Ink Summer Filmmaking Camp


Want to see your name in lights?
Are you a future Academy Award winner?  Here's your chance! Join Filmmakers Ink's team of Award-winning filmmakers and artists and make magic! Students will receive expert filmmaking instruction in a fun and relaxed film camp atmosphere.

 

Two Week Intensive Summer Filmmaking Camp
Our young filmmakers will work with an award-winning screenwriter, learning to develop characters, dialogue and plot to tell stories with words and images that have personal meaning.  The culminating experience will be collaboration in the planning and execution of Directing several films. Filmmakers Ink offers a University quality course in a summer camp setting.  Students will be grouped by Age and Experience.

Enrollment will be limited.  Please Register Early! [Min/Max: 7/15]

Two Week Acting for Film Camp
During the first week, our young actors will sharpen their listening skills and then work improvisationally, learning to concentrate, trust and collaborate. They will act in the films being produced by the Intensive Filmmaking Program. Our actors will learn to live truthfully within their scenes, gaining plenty of on-camera experience.  Filmmakers Ink offers a University quality course in a summer camp setting. Students will be grouped by Age and Experience.

One Week Screenwriting Program
Our young filmmakers will work with an award-winning screenwriter, learning to write visually. They will develop characters, dialogue and plot to tell stories with words and images that have personal meaning.

Two week Special Effects Filmmaking Summer Camp for 8-10 yr olds
Our youngest filmmakers will develop a story and learn to use Special Effects to film it. They will also learn camera basics and teamwork. These young filmmakers will write, shoot, edit and screen their movie for family and friends at their Premiere on the final day.  Students are encouraged to bring their own camera and tripod if they own one, but it is not required.

Enrollment will be limited.  Please Register Early! [Min/Max: 5/12]

Under the leadership of award-winning filmmaker, Patrick McCullough, Filmmakers Ink has set itself apart from other summer filmmaking camps through their depth of knowledge and achievement. Writer, Director, Actor and Producer, winner of several awards, a finalist in the Sundance Film Festival Screenwriting Program, and currently producing a feature film in New York City, one of Patrick McCullough’s recent projects was producing and acting in the independent film, Beautiful Kid, with Frank McCourt, the Pulitzer Prize-Winning author of Angela's Ashes. Variety cited the film for its, "Astonishing integrity." The film won the Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor awards at the Method Fest in Burbank, California, and was nominated for several other awards, including Best Film and the Maverick Award for Best Low Budget Film. Other working filmmakers will be on hand for instruction, including Joe Hertz, Animation instructor at the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts in Connecticut. Filmmakers Ink provides intensive creative instruction in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. We will be building confidence in our students by teaching teamwork with daily success. Giving each a strong foundation in collaboration, imagination, creativity and storytelling. The following information is provided by
NEWTOWN PARKS AND RECREATION

DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE!!
Nothing spoils a good program quicker than everyone waiting until the last minute to register. If there are not enough registrations by a certain date, Park and Rec programs may be canceled. Coming in on the day the program begins won’t resurrect it, so please register early.

REFUND POLICY
Þ Refunds will be given if a recreation program is canceled due to lack of registration.

Þ We will be happy to give refunds minus a $10.00 administration fee, if notification is received one (1) week prior to the start of the program.

IMPORTANT NOTES
Þ All Parks and Recreation programs are on a first-come, first served basis.

Þ Parks and Recreation does not send confirmations. No news is good news! Please assume you are registered for the program(s) you have selected. You will be contacted only if there is a problem.

Þ As mentioned earlier, Parks and Recreation cannot be responsible for loss of mail or postal delays.

Þ Program participants are reminded NOT TO PARK IN FIRE LANES, per order of the Fire Marshall. Fire lanes are those areas in front of each school which are painted yellow.

Þ Get up-to-the minute program or cancelation information or leave a message at 270-4340, after hours and on week ends.

Þ If a participant displays unruly behavior, he / she will be asked to leave the program and NO refund will be given.

INCLUSION STATEMENT
In an effort to meet the recreational needs of all residents of Newtown, the Parks & Recreation Department has adopted a policy of inclusion. Although some facilities are not yet wheelchair accessible every attempt will be made to accommodate and encourage people with disabilities to participate in our programs. Please use comment section on the registration form detailing your circumstances.

NON-RESIDENT POLICY
Þ Non-resident registrations will be accepted no earlier than (5) business days prior to the start of a program, provided there is availability.

Þ Non-residents will be admitted on a restricted basis and only after Newtown residents have had sufficient time to register.

Þ Not all programs allow for non-resident participation.

Þ Non-residents will be required to pay an additional $25.00 per program.

MAIL-IN REGISTRATION FORMAT
Please use official registration form, with payment attached. Envelopes will be dated and numbered as they are received in the office and will be processed accordingly. We cannot be responsible for postal delays. Telephone registrations are not accepted.

NOTIFICATION will only be made if there is a problem. Otherwise, assume you have been enrolled as requested. If a receipt is required, please enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope. Please be sure to use the proper activity number and letter. (This could make the difference in getting into a program).

CANCELATION POLICY
Þ Cancelation information may be obtained by calling us at 270-4340 and choosing option # 1 or by checking our website at www.newtown-ct.gov. Sign up for automatic cancelation notices on our website.

Þ Cancelation announcements will also be made on WINE, WLAD, & Star99.9 radio stations.

RESIDENCY-DEFINED: A person whose primary residence, either as an owner or renter, is in Newtown, is considered a Newtown resident. (No exceptions to this rule.) Proof of residency is required.
