Summer
2007 Programs
Want
to see your name in lights? Are you the next Steven Spielberg?
A future Oscar winner?
Here's
your chance! Join Filmmakers Ink's team of Award-winning
filmmakers and artists and make magic! Students will receive
expert filmmaking instruction in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
One Week Screenwriting
Program
Our young filmmakers will work with an award-winning
screenwriter, learning learning to write visually. They will develop,
dialogue and plot to tell stories with words and images that have personal
meaning. Our young filmmakers will also learn to sharpen their listening
skills and begin to work improvisationally, learning to concentrate, trust
and collaborate with their teammates.
Two Week Acting
Program
During the first week,
our young actors will sharpen their listening skills and then work improvisationally,
learning to concentrate, trust and collaborate. In the second week, they
will act in the films being produced by the Intensive Filmmaking Program.
Our actors will learn to work truthfully within their scenes, gaining
plenty of on-camera experience.
Two Week Filmmaking Program
Our filmmakers will gain knowledge in every aspect of filmmaking. The
first week will be the Screenwriting Program. Students will develop several
scripts, then produce several films, collaboratively. They will work with
Actors from our Acting for Film Program. Our award-winning filmmaker/instructors
will teach our students important elements of production. The students
pre-production planning will involve developing scripts, storyboards,
location scouting, set design and casting. The students will then work
closely with seasoned professionals in specific crew positions, including
Director, Cinematographer, Gaffer (Lighting) and Sound. They will also
work with props, wardrobe and set dressing. Post-Production: Our young
filmmakers will study and evaluate each shot and select the best takes
based on camera work, composition, performance, continuity, sound quality
and other criteria that we will discuss as a group.
One
Week Editing Program
**NEW**
Our
young filmmakers will digitize the footage from the Intensive Filmmaking
Program and edit picture
and sound to create a rough cut of each film. Then they will work with
special effects, transitions, sound editing design, music and titling
to create a final cut. We will be using non-linear editing programs such
as Final Cut Pro, movie and Windows Moviemaker. Computers will be provided
and we encourage any student to bring their own laptop.
PRE-REQUISITE
FOR EDITING PROGRAM: Must also sign-up for one of Filmmakers Ink’s
Filmmaking, Screenwriting or Acting Programs, with the exception of former
Filmmakers Ink students.
Two
Week Special Effects **NEW**
Filmmaking Program for 8-10 year olds
Our
youngest filmmakers will develop a story and learn to use Special Effects
to film it. They will also learn camera basics and teamwork. These young
filmmakers will write, shoot, edit and screen their movie for family and
friends at their Premiere on the final day. Students need to bring their
own cameras and tripods if they own them.
Filmmakers Ink Under the leadership
of award-winning filmmaker, Patrick McCullough, Filmmakers Ink
has set itself apart from other film programs through the depth of knowledge
and achievement in our staff who’ve produced Sundance Grand
Jury Prize-Winning films, and smaller award-winning
independent films, like the current Beautiful Kid
featuring Pulitzer Prize-Winning author, Frank
McCourt, which Variety called, a film
with "astonishing integrity." The staff will include Patrick
McCullough, Writer, Director and Producer, winner of
several awards, a finalist in the Sundance Film Festival
Screenwriting Program, and currently filming two feature film
projects in New England, and Chosei Funahara, mentored
by Akira Kurosawa (the renowned Japanese filmmaker, director
of films such as Ran and The Seven
Samurai). Chosei has made over 60 films. He’s won
an MTV award for Best American Video for I
Am Siam. Throughout the school year, we will bring in guest
filmmakers to broaden your film experience.
Filmmakers
